In recent months, I’ve worked two writing gigs contributing to relocation guides – one for Boise, Idaho and another for Sherman, Texas. Both are currently in press, and I’m hoping they will have online versions I can link to after they’re published.
Relocation guides are typically available through a city’s chamber of commerce. They describe the the area’s economy, resources, population, and popular pastimes. Their intent is to provide prospective residents with a sense of the community’s character and the types of resources and opportunities available to support a family and active personal life.
Writing for these relocation guides was a lot of fun! As I segue into travel writing, these projects inspired me to think about destination writing from a different perspective and prompted me to research topics I might not have thought of otherwise…like agrieconomics in the Treasure Valley.
Here’s looking forward to the next one!
